Pleased to be seated!

Here, and on show  at the next Bibury Antiques Fair is an Oxfords Windsor Armchair made by Stephen Hazell and stamped on the rear of the seat as is often the case.

This has been thoroughly tidied, waxed and buffed and really shows the colour of the timber so well. Try it for size, very comfortable, all it needs is a table next to it with a glass of pop and a piece of cheese and cake!

Hope you like it, have a look on the “Furniture For Sale” link, there will be more  photographs and information there.

Have a good weekend!

Regards, Andy.

One month to go!

Hello again!

Well, Bibury Antiques Fair opens on March 4th, and so this time next month, I’ll be emptying my car and sorting out all the bits of paper and blankets etc!

Pop into see us and see how many chairs are there, here is one which may well be, hope you like it. I’ll try to have  a nice small table to compliment it too!

Bye for now and have a good week!

Regards, Andy.

Opening Soon!

Hello again!

It won’t be long before Bibury Antiques Fair returns to being open on the first Sunday of the month, from March 4th, to, and including  November 4th.

Whilst the fair has been closed, I have been busy doing restoration on furniture, and one of the items which will be ready for show in March is this, a Georgian mahogany card table, shown here after a light improvement with some more work needed, a few small areas of veneers etc. This will look great in many houses, even if it never sees a life of card playing.

Should you be interested in this, don’t hesitate to ask me for details, delivery can be arranged too!

See you soon?

Regards, Andy.

Happy Wassail Weekend!

Greetings and Happy Wassail!

For many cider drinkers and orchard owners Wassail is an important date in  the calendar and I know that at many orchards this weekend there will be gatherings and celebrations.

Here is my glass of fine cider, Old Stag Cider, from a Gloucestershire company I came across recently, and very tasty it is too!

The glass is a commemorative one marking 100 years of Bulmers Cider, (which was in 1987) and the engraving is very good!

Have a good weekend, and enjoy the photo,  I have to go and drink this now!

Regards, Andy.

As one drawer closes, another opens!

Happy New Year!

As we start 2018, I have photographed a Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers, which has just come into my workshop, and is for sale. Little restoration is needed, as can be seen by the photographs taken whilst drizzling, better ones soon!

Measuring approximately 38 1/2″ wide, 19 1/2″ deep and 31 3/4″ tall the chest is awaiting a few bits of veneer to be replaced, some of which are in the drawers, a very good revive of the polish before waxing, then me to cut keys for the locks, and  although many people never use them, I think it’s always nice see and it can be quite satisfying to cut nice keys.

All the best for 2018, and I look forward to our events starting in March, where this chest will be on show, unless sold before!P1040744

bty

One of the lower drawer handles after a quick tidy, looks like I’ll enjoy this project, and maybe for sale earlier than I originally thought, please let me know if this interests you.

Regards, Andy.

Seasoned Greetings!

Hello All!

As many will be preparing for roasts, many turkey, for a big day coming up soon, I was pleased to photograph these at the November Bibury Antiques Fair, and not being true 100 year old, they are fun, very useable, and quite rare I guess, and so most likely highly collectable.

I remember the “Beefeater” chain of pubs, not sure they were often frequented by me, (just found out they still going!), but these plates were especially commissioned for the chain, I think they are ’70’s (?). Surely many were broken in use, and as such I wonder, and can’t believe are many left in this condition.

Whilst many are preparing other game meals, many are treating themselves to fabulous joints of beef for Santa’s Lunch. Wouldn’t these be fun to use?

Keep in touch and a “Happy Run up to Santa’s eve!”

Regards, Andy.

I’m off to “Antiques at The Holt!” this weekend.

Morning!

Occasionally over the years, despite running many fairs, I still occasionally have time to be a stallholder at others. This weekend I can be seen with some furniture, tables, chairs, longcase clock, rugs, firescreens, drinking glasses and a fewer small items too.

Pop along if you have time, we are open all weekend, easy to find at the crossroads  at The Holt Hotel, Steeple Aston, Oxfordshire, OX25 5QQ Maybe see you there? These are coming too!

Regards, Andy.

Spooky! We’re back soon!

Hello again. Well, yes, Halloween time is here soon, and we are getting ready to put on a great show for visitors this Sunday, November 5th.

We have a great line up, so if you have the chance, call in to view and maybe buy too! This will be our final show this year, as we will be having a break, to return in March!

I haven’t got a spare coffin for halloween, but this Mahogany Cellerette is at least Sarcophagus shape, and is for sale, with a liner inside with six divisions!

Have a good week and hope to see you soon! Bye for now, Andy.
