Dusters at the ready!

Hello!

We’re all getting ready for our first fair of the year in Bibury Village Hall, we will be there on the 7th April 2019! Opening at 10am, and closing at 4pm.

I’m not telling what’s going to be on show by the dealers,  but here are a couple of pieces of mine at a bi-annual fair at Hopcrofts Holt Hotel, near Banbury closed down last weekend. The top hat has gone to feature in a local play abut Dr. Doolittle, and indeed I was surprised to see a “push-me-pull-you” in someones kitchen today!

All the best, Andy!

Sorry, there’s a sticking handle which really annoys me, but in haste I missed seeing it through the lense, now sorted and I can sleep again!

Feeling Cornered? Shelve it in a Cabinet!

Wow! What a find, I love it, but what does everyone else think?

I think here I have saved a potentially fabulous, mostly Elm corner cabinet from, the  1760’s (ish), from the fire! Why? Well, simply because I like it! Is it worth the effort? No most likely not! But……. I like wood, and this is great! When finished, if it was in a posh antiques shop it would be a stunning price, but still wouldn’t sell in a rush, so I get the pleasure of tidying it up, and enjoying it, please follow me on the journey (should enough people want me to, we can have a “Cabinet Meeting!”  just send me an email and I’ll do one for this project!).

We can then see what can be done. I hope to use this as an advertising item, as it’s bigger than I thought when I saw it, and a good weight, also heavier than I thought! (So not that keen on taking out everywhere!). Here it is today, and I have just bombed it with woodworm killer, he signs were old, but just in case! The interior was covered in fabric, maybe added in the 80’s, as underneath was the original paint! In the current market, I could spend a month working on it and raise the value to nearly £70! (AUCTION?). Only true country furniture folk would buy this! The labour involved is huge, and so I am gambling on a possibility I may be asked to work for someone to repair something for them, by  appreciating the work and materials that go into this!

Please ask about my restoration business or pop along to Bibury Antiques Fair (April 7th!), in Gloucestershire to discuss anything you may wish me to do for you! I do try to please!

Thanks for looking, and here’s the cabinet!

Regards, Andy.

A Delft Shelf Elf?

Hello all!

I’m hoping that the weather today will be kind on us and the autumn tourists around Bibury. Many will know we have a visitors book, and it’s great when people sign it, really I’m interested in their town where they live or consider their home. Bibury really proves to be a destination for many from all over.

Here we have, taken part way through setting up, a rack, sometimes called a Delft Rack, Board Rack, or Delft Shelf, my favourite as said quickly it can be difficult.

Here on show for sale are a few items, duplicate reference books, tools, and of course the rack itself, recent arrival, but I’m sure I will make good use of this for years as I think it will be a benefit to display items on. Let me know if you like how it all looks, and why not pop along and enjoy the fair, we do have some excellent items, I’ll take a few extra photos to encourage visitors for our last fair of the year, on November 4th, obviously that’s after our fair on October 7th!

Regards, Andy.

A Fuschia Sale?

Hello all!

Here I’m showing a photo taken a while ago, (the fuschia is the flower in the background),  but oddly enough all the items are still for sale, and thought it about time I showed them off!  Oak, Yew and Silver. I may bring them to Bibury on October 7th, pop in and find out if I do! The stool looks a bit better now as I have been waxing it occasionally!

We are at the Church end of the village, opposite end to The Swan Hotel, and refreshments are served from around noon, by  our friend, including eggs form her own hens!

See you there? Regards, Andy.

Ship Shape & Sporting Stuff!

Hello again!

On July 1st, which is this coming Sunday, we will be on show at Bibury Village Hall, a splendid village and venue. Although we are a small antiques fair, we do offer a fabulous mixture of items there’s usually something for most people to enjoy looking at, and quite often buying.

Jewellery is often a top seller, however this photo was taken last month, and I thought it looked good, what do you think?

See us there on Sunday from 10am till 4, and refreshments are served from around 1130, so one can have tea, coffee, sandwiches and cake in the sun on the tables outside the hall, or inside if too hot! All this whilst thinking what to buy, what a day it could be!

Regards, Andy.

Just Play Your Cards Right!

Here I have a splendid card table, Georgian, around 1740.

Great colour and I have just waxed these fabulous legs!

Shown here closed, and the castors visible. This will be on show at Bibury Antiques Fair on May 6th. Play your cards right and delivery could be included in the price, depends where one lives I must say, but ask and hope!

Have a good weekend wherever you are!

Regards, Andy.

Fair Thanks!

Hello All!

Thanks to all the dealers and visitors who were with us at Bibury last Sunday, we had a busy day, and the weather was pretty good too, much better than the rain we have had recently, so the river wasn’t as clear as usual.

This is a photograph of one of the stands, I hope it gives a little feel of the variety of items we have on sale at this fair.

Have a good week.

Regards, Andy.
