September’s here again!

Wow! Autumn feels as though it really is here now as the dampness rises from the fields in the early evening as a wonderful magical mist. However, this is making the evenings cooler, so if you get a chance, call into Bibury Antiques Fair this coming Sunday, 4th September, we are open from 10am to 4pm. My breakfast this morning was Trout, with bread and butter, and Bibury has the oldest Trout Farm in England, and I can recommend it! So, there’s food to buy in Bibury, as well as antiques this Sunday, and if the weather is good, there’s the option of just sitting on a wall and watching the world go by whilst enjoying a coffee from the cafe Twig, or lunch at The Catherine Wheel, or checking out one of the many venues in the area for a future wedding or party! Lots to do near here, and some of the short walks do go through interesting villages nearby, some have pubs along the way too! Naturally, an item from our fair could be a wonderful gift for yourself or a friend, and could bring many happy memories of the day for years to come, so I hope you find something! We are coming to the end of a Bank Holiday weekend, but “Other weekends are available”! Regards, Andy.

Good Luck Charm As We Return!

Hello all! Well, we are returning to Bibury Village Hall this coming Sunday, June 6th. Maybe we will see you there? It seems like a while, so I’ll remind you, we open at 10am and close at 4pm. On offer by our dealers, there will be silver, jewellery, pictures, brass and copper items, and even a few items of furniture, and no doubt more! Here’s a photo of a Good Luck Charm, and I think the whole Country could do with some Good Luck, maybe it’s arriving slowly! Best Wishes. Andy.

Sweet Valentine

Happy Valentine’s Day Folks!

Some of you may not know that St. Valentine is one of Beekeepings patron Saints, there are several!

St. Ambrose, St. Benedict, St. Gregory, St. Bartolomew, St. Gobnait, St. Kharlamii, St. Dominic also called St. Modomnoc,  and St Valentine. There are undoubtably others!

So whilst the bees around the country are stirring, responding signs that the weather is getting warmer, the days longer, so too are some of our dealers for Bibury Antiques Fair getting ready for our first event of the year on April 7th. See you there perhaps? Other antiques fairs are available, more news soon!

Regards, Andy.

Picture This!

Hello again!

Well, on a day where a picture almost self destructs at a major auction house, here is one I am researching, and finding a frame for before I can offer it for sale, most likely at slightly less than a million pounds Stirling, but if someone offered that I could include a free shredder, paper or garden mulcher even!

I am struggling to read the inscription above the picture, but believe it says “Published 1822 (1922?) The Museum Galleries, 20 Museum Street, London. W0 Copyright”

Although signed in pencil, it is very faint, but I do like the embossed markings to one corner. These photographs will be enough for tonight, but when all said and done I actually like this, and feel as though I should know the place, but yet I don’t know where it is, yet!

Happy Researching for me!

Have a good weekend, and we will be on show in Bibury on Sunday 7th October!

Pop in and say hi and ask for a panini from a brand new kitchen accessory!

Regards, Andy.

A hand please?!

Hello all!

Just to say that Bibury Antiques Fair is this Sunday, May 6th.

We are full and will  have a fabulous display for all to see.

If anyone can offer a helping hand to the buyer of this please feel free, it’s heavy and for sale this Sunday, first day out too! Georgian Bureau with a fabulous interior and excellent presence to it, just stands so proud and solid. Looks great but also very useful, many offices would be improved by something like this, here it is just been loaded into the car!

Regards, Andy.

Hello, and with just a week to go until Bibury Antiques Fair returns we are are busy and hoping the weather will be kinder to us than it was in March.

Amongst the dealers stock exhibited, one may well find this, a sign which just says all it needs to…….

Curling for Bibury!

Wow, with all the Olympic excitement about Curling, and I must admit, I do fancy having a go, it somehow is, I think, slowly exciting, addictive perhaps, and a mixture of lots, the target and actions a cross between archery, bowls, and more, or is that just how I see it?

Well, here is a miniature curling stone, which once held a wee dram, sadly been empty for a long time, but I guess it could be refilled! Call in and see us at Bibury Village Hall on March 4th to see if it’s still for sale!
