It’s a summer-var stand!

Well, strictly not, but as ever I can’t resist a bad pun!

Recently I have tidied up a small stand for a client and to their delight, I called it a Samovar Stand, possibly the prettiest one I have ever had to improve, and so I hope you like it too.

Despite the heat and a chaotic summer, I am still restoring furniture, and keeping bees, and I’ll have a few photographs of my work on show at Bibury Village Hall this Sunday, August 5th, between 10 am and 4pm. Yes, refreshments are available, so pop in and say “hi” over a cup of coffee or tea!

Regards, Andy.

Summer Knees!

As the song doesn’t go!…….

Summer Knees, drifting away, blowing in the sunset of my mind!

Well, no sunset here to watch the eclipse, too cloudy, so that has been blown away!

Meanwhile, here are some knees which will be for sale with the rest of the table on Sunday August 5th! Pop in and say hi, we will be on show from 10am till 4pm at Bibury Village Hall.

May see you then! In the meantime, have a good day!

Regards, Andy.

A Shropshire Lad!

Hello all!

It was over 120 years ago that a book of poetry entitled “A Shropshire Lad” was printed, and yet here on offer at Bibury there was photographed last month a charming snuff or baccy box. More unusual than many, this example being named, with the location too.

Pop along to see if it can be added to your collection, or maybe start from here!

See you soon perhaps, our next vent is July 1st 2018.

Regards, Andy.

Ship Shape & Sporting Stuff!

Hello again!

On July 1st, which is this coming Sunday, we will be on show at Bibury Village Hall, a splendid village and venue. Although we are a small antiques fair, we do offer a fabulous mixture of items there’s usually something for most people to enjoy looking at, and quite often buying.

Jewellery is often a top seller, however this photo was taken last month, and I thought it looked good, what do you think?

See us there on Sunday from 10am till 4, and refreshments are served from around 1130, so one can have tea, coffee, sandwiches and cake in the sun on the tables outside the hall, or inside if too hot! All this whilst thinking what to buy, what a day it could be!

Regards, Andy.

Rogation Sunday!

Hello all!

Here is a Rogation mug for Rogation Sunday.

Never heard of it? Well, as a kid in the village choir we used to carry an old plough, painted and cleaned every year, into the church where it would be left in the aisle during the service and then get blessed by the vicar.

This is symbolic of blessing the land and the farmers, workers and the potential crops that all come from the land.

Quite appropriate as I now keep bees, and they are a massively important part of farming, helping to pollinate the crops. Not just honey bees, Bumble bees too!

So, here is a Rogation Mug. They vary massively, but this is one of at least two that will be for sale at Bibury Antiques Fair on May 6th!

Hope you like it! Regards, Andy.

If anyone can offer a helping hand to the buyer of this please feel free, it’s heavy and for sale this Sunday, first day out too! Georgian Bureau with a fabulous interior and excellent presence to it, just stands so proud and solid. Looks great but also very useful, many offices would be improved by something like this, here it is just been loaded into the car!
