Hello all! Well, we are returning to Bibury Village Hall this coming Sunday, June 6th. Maybe we will see you there? It seems like a while, so I’ll remind you, we open at 10am and close at 4pm. On offer by our dealers, there will be silver, jewellery, pictures, brass and copper items, and even a few items of furniture, and no doubt more! Here’s a photo of a Good Luck Charm, and I think the whole Country could do with some Good Luck, maybe it’s arriving slowly! Best Wishes. Andy.
Well, Bibury Antiques Fair is having a break until the spring…….. BUT…….. Should people have time over the weekend of 23rd and 24th November, there’s an antiques fair on at The Holt Hotel, Steeple Aston, Oxfordshire. I’m bowled over, and going to be there again! Oh yes, and I’ll have this Sycamore Dairy Bowl with me, and I think it’s got a good colour and patina, but I’ll have to let you decide if you agree! This bowl is about 12″ in diameter, and 3 1/2″ high. Here it is….. The link for the Holt event is http://www.antiques-at-the-holt.co.uk/ Maybe see you there, and if I remember rightly, the steak sandwiches are very nice there too!
Here is a Rogation mug for Rogation Sunday.
Never heard of it? Well, as a kid in the village choir we used to carry an old plough, painted and cleaned every year, into the church where it would be left in the aisle during the service and then get blessed by the vicar.
This is symbolic of blessing the land and the farmers, workers and the potential crops that all come from the land.
Quite appropriate as I now keep bees, and they are a massively important part of farming, helping to pollinate the crops. Not just honey bees, Bumble bees too!
So, here is a Rogation Mug. They vary massively, but this is one of at least two that will be for sale at Bibury Antiques Fair on May 6th!
Hope you like it! Regards, Andy.
This weekend is “Fireworks weekend” and on Sunday when the smoke hangs in the early morning misty air, we will be on show at Bibury Antiques Fair in the Village Hall.
We open at 10am and close at 4pm, this is our last event this year, we return in the spring, on March 4th. This website will remain active with a few items for sale so please keep in touch, I hope you will enjoy what I can offer.
Hello again. Well, yes, Halloween time is here soon, and we are getting ready to put on a great show for visitors this Sunday, November 5th.
We have a great line up, so if you have the chance, call in to view and maybe buy too! This will be our final show this year, as we will be having a break, to return in March!
I haven’t got a spare coffin for halloween, but this Mahogany Cellerette is at least Sarcophagus shape, and is for sale, with a liner inside with six divisions!
Have a good week and hope to see you soon! Bye for now, Andy.
Well, as ever time seems to go quickly, and here is a snapshot of one jewellery cabinet from earlier in the month.
Should you be nearby, please call in and see us on October 1st.
Have a good weekend.
Well, it rained pretty well all day yesterday but this didn’t stop visitors enjoying the fair and buying little treasures to take away. No sooner had I photographed a charming Scandinavian silver salt in the shape of a longboat, someone saw it and it sailed off to a new home.
So, all in all, weighing things up, it wasn’t a bad day! On the subject of scales, here is a set which were on show.
Have a good week!
This Sunday will see us back in Bibury, enjoying the day I am sure, as we have a good display lined up.
Refreshments will be served, and I look forward to cake and coffee in the afternoon, just to help me have the energy to tidy the tables away and sweep up of course!
Here is a photograph of one of last months stalls.
See you soon?
Hope that the Bank Holiday weekend is being enjoyed by many, I can’t believe the fabulous weather here.
Just a reminder that we will be on show again in Bibury on Sunday September 3rd, from 10am.
Look forward to seeing you all there. Here is a small salver which was served up last month, and a very nice one too!
