Half Way For Virtual Fair!

Hello all! Well, amazingly we are half way through our May Virtual Fair! With help from antiques.co.uk we have had over 40 items listed for sale for just over 2 weeks, and now a few items have been viewed over 100 times. I think that’s more than most items get viewed at an event, and here’s the one which at the rime of writing, is the most viewed, at 106. https://www.antiques.co.uk/antique/Gilt-and-Laquered-Wooden-Monk other items are close behind at 104 and 103. Have a look and see if you fancy anything. There’s a payment option on the site, or please make an enquiry. Sadly not everyone from the fair can take part in this as they cannot access their stock from closed shops and centres, but we have a good cross section of items listed.Have a good day folks, and here are a few photo’s of the event last year. It really is a sweet Village Hall and I look forward to returning one day. Regards, Andy.

Inspiration and a Relaxing Read!

Hello all! Just a brief note and a quickly taken photo just before I sat down in the garden to read a new book which arrived yesterday. The Welsh Stick Chair. As usual with all of the Bowen’s catalogues, it’s superbly printed and a joy to read and look at, I’m sure over the years it will become a well thumbed book. Thanks to Tim and Betsan. Have a look at their website, it’s got some nice items on it! https://www.timbowenantiques.co.uk in the meantime, bye for now. Andy.

Our Virtual Fair is Open Now, and tomorrow, and ……..

Hello all! I have some amazing news. Bibury Antiques Fair may only be a small event, however we believe we are the first Antiques Fair to have a “Virtual Fair”. Yes! With the help of Iain Brunt, and his website, we have our listing at https://www.antiques.co.uk/seller-items.cfm?maxrows=25&seller=4448&order=priceDESC&start=2 have a look and see what you find! This will be live for longer than our usual time, of just one Sunday a month, but we are entering exciting times, and so if you like it, we hope to be able to continue, so please have a puruse and possibly even a purchase! Shown here just to make you hurry, is “A Russian Bangle”. Hope you like it, and thanks for looking. Regards, Andy.

A little background work, and a surprise to come!

Hello again! I realise it’s been a while since I was in touch, but there have been a few things going on in the background, and one of them is this Rosewood Bookcase which I am restoring ready for sale this summer, offer a price if you want to buy it, sadly the marble top is missing, but a wooden one could go on-top, not everyone likes marble! Hope you like the photographs, and yes, there’s still a bit to be done, but it’s a lot better than when I got it! There’s also something else which I hope some of you may well be interested in, and more about that on Friday I hope! Pop back to find out, but in the meantime, here’s the bookcase. All the best, Andy.

Home revision!

Today, April 5th 2020, would have been the first of our fairs at Bibury Village Hall, one day maybe this year we will return? In the meantime, many folk are re-assessing their lives, work, hobbies, and in some cases, looking at what they have! It’s over 30 years ago that I started buying a few reference books to learn about furniture, clocks, and as I like glass, then that too. Here is a little area of my study as it is now, with some of those items, as well as bits and bobs picked up on the way, from friends, all having sentimental value. One day when we return, people will be able to add to their collections, and the items gained will help the times be remembered. Bye for now, Andy.

A little study shelf!

Fair on Hold!

Sorry, but it’s not much of a surprise I’m sure, the Bibury Antiques Fair is, like much of the Country postponing it’s events. However, I have asked the dealers and I’m hoping they will send me some photo’s of their stock so I can keep you entertained, and I’ll add a few of my items to the “Furniture For Sale” page, hopefully that can be found above! I hope to be back with news soon, and maybe the fair will be able to return this year, I do hope so, but I’m not offering a “Copper Bottom” guarantee! Speaking of which, this is an Ash stool with a “Copper Pot from The Willis Meeting Rooms, St. James Street, London.” Interesting venue, and I hadn’t heard of it before I got this. According to what I have found quite easily, there was a meeting some years ago there, and resulting from that, The Liberal Party was formed. This pot is a few years after that meeting, so maybe there was so much going on they needed more kitchen staff and utensils! Anyway, here it is, sitting on a fine Ash stool. Both items for sale, send me an email and make an offer, I was thinking around £70 for the stool and £120 for the Copper Pot, because of it’s stamp and history, is that fair? Regards, Andy.

Holt! We’re ready to Go!

Hello all! Many of you will know that Bibury Antiques Fair is due to return on April 5th, less than a month away now! However, there’s a great fair this weekend, the 14th and 15th March, at The Holt Hotel, between Banbury and Woodstock, where I will be and many more people too. Here is a link for you. http://www.antiques-at-the-holt.co.uk/ Open Saturday and Sunday! Maybe see you there? Here are few photo’s of my stock, or my stand at previous fairs at The Holt. Thanks for looking, did you see the little winning jockey? Well, it is Cheltenham week! Bye for now.

A Pine Martin? No, an Elm Martin!

Hello again all. Just a quick catch up and a bit of wildlife for you to enjoy I hope, a rare Elm Martin! I say that as being carved from Elm, and it’s just easier to say that rather than, “An Elm Pine Martin!” Here, shown having had a little tidy up and a quick wax, measuring approximately 15″ long, 10″ high, and 6″ deep, so that’s about life size. Hope you enjoy the photo’s, and yes, this is for sale, offers discussed, ticket price £285. Thank you, Andy.

Time Rolls By!

Hello all! Recently I have been getting ready for the fair returning to Bibury, and I have noticed that time keeps whizzing by, but it is nice that the evenings are drawing out. It won’t be long before we will be unloading by the riverside and into The Village Hall. Here’s an item one could see for sale there, a small 8 Day Brass Lantern Clock, hope you like it. Thanks for looking, Andy.
