Nearly Time, and Catching Up!

Hello all! As many of you will know, we are hoping to return to our fabulous Bibury Village Hall venue to present our Bibury Antiques Fair this summer. Although a date hasn’t been set, there are dealers who want to return, and a few questions being asked from potential visitors too. I have noticed a few fairs returning, and although ours is quite small, we can easily be flexible and make visitors relaxed as they soak up the atmosphere in and around Bibury. Meanwhile, in the restoration field, I have been busy tidying up a painted longcase clock to present on my first outing. What an amazing piece of wood at the back, a single slab of Elm! The case is made from what looks like to be Alder, or Aspen, or similar, and has been painted, and later, probably in the Victorian time, or even later, has had some glaze painted over it too, this has been heavily waxed and buffed, and not is gleaming quite well. I look forward to popping the movement in there and listening to the sound of the tick. Oh, I almost forgot to say, it’s a Gloucestershire clock too! Shown here part way through improving the polish, the loose plinth on the trunk now re-affixed, and a loose moulding on the hood straightened and made firm. Whilst there is a key to the trunk door, the turnbutton at the top is needed as the door is slightly bowed, so doesn’t lock easily. Come and see what it looks like when it’s finished and ready for sale! Hope you like it! Regards, Andy.
